According to recent news from Punjab, Papalpreet Singh, who is a close associate of Amritpal Singh – a supporter of the Khalistani movement, has been apprehended by the Punjab police. Papalpreet Singh had been evading arrest since March 18, 2023, when the police initiated a widespread search operation against Amritpal and his accomplices.
The arrest of Papalpreet Singh took place on Monday in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, in a joint operation carried out by the Punjab and Delhi police, along with their counterintelligence units, as per sources.
It has been further reported that after fleeing on March 18th, Amritpal and Papalpreet had been traveling together, frequently changing their vehicles and disguises to avoid detection.
Papalpreet Singh is a close associate of Amritpal Singh and is known to have provided him with guidance and support in various matters. He was the key architect behind the escape of Amritpal and his associates and was highly trusted by Amritpal. According to reports, Papalpreet has been in contact with the ISI and was receiving instructions from them to advocate for Khalistan and create disharmony in Punjab.
In terms of his background, Papalpreet comes from an agricultural family and became associated with the Sikh Youth Front and Sikh Youth Federation in his twenties. He identifies himself as a reporter based in Punjab/Amritsar and is believed to be operating a website called “Punjab Shield” that promotes Khalistani propaganda. He is currently facing four criminal cases against him.
