There are many Indian artists on popular streaming services like Apple Music, and some of the most popular songs in India are Punjabi music. Apple has revealed its top 10 lists for the year, which include the top 10 artist, song, albums, and more in India. Here are some key takeaways:
Out of the top 100 songs, only 21 are international. Eight of the top ten songs are in Punjabi, and 36 of the top 100 are from Punjabi. Three of the top ten songs are from Bollywood; 30 of the top 100 are from Bollywood. AP Dhillon has sung five of the top ten songs and 16 of the top 100 songs. Five out of ten artists in this list are Punjabi. Arijit Singh is the most streamed artist again this year. Eight out of the ten albums in this list are Indian; eight out of ten albums on this list were made by Punjabi artists.
Internationally, Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI topped the Top Songs of 2022 with their collaboration, “STAY.” The song ranked No. 1 on the Most Red Lyrics chart, while “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” from the film Encanto, topped the Aria Singles Chart.
In addition, hip-hop topped the charts this year, with 32 songs of the top 100. It was followed by pop, which had 23. After that came R&B/soul, with 11 songs. Latin came in fourth, with eight, and J-pop came in fifth with six.
In India, Excuses by AP Dhillon, Intense and Gurinder Gill took the spot on the Top 10 Songs chart. Arijit Singh and Dhillon are the Top Two artists of the year. Dhillon’s Hidden Gems is the Top album of the year.
Apple has also launched a new replay feature that lets users discover their top songs, albums, artists, genres, or more. Superfans can even see whether they’re among the top 100 listeners of their favorite artist or genre. Listeners can keep checking Replay until December 31 to see if their listening patterns change before the new year begins – and once it starts, they’ll be able to explore and share insights on future 2023 music.
