The movie centers on the story of Sheru (Nawazuddin), an aspiring actor in Mumbai striving to make it big. His family arranges for him to marry Tiku (Avneet), who has her own ambitions of breaking into the Bollywood scene that Mumbai offers. After tying the knot, their lives take a new direction as a series of events ensue.

Some netizens have expressed shock at the lip-lock scene between Nawazuddin and Avneet in the trailer, given their age difference. While Nawazuddin is 49, Avneet celebrated her 21st birthday last October. One user wrote: “Enough of this outsider talk – I can’t stand up for him anymore.” Another stated: “What’s with Nawaaz’s choice of movies? Gross.” And a third added: “That’s really inappropriate. Avneet would have been roughly 20 when filming began, and she has been overly sexualised in the trailer.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “Tiku Weds Sheru is a comedy-drama that weaves elements of real-life struggles with a unique love story.” Avneet Kaur added, “Although our pairing is unconventional, the audience will be able to witness a very beautiful relationship between Tiku and Sheru.” The film explores the love and aspirations of two individuals who have a shared dream that brings them together.”
Avneet Kaur will make her Bollywood debut with Tiku Weds Sheru. Kangana Ranaut is the film’s producer. The actress revealed at the trailer launch on Wednesday she had an emotional breakdown and expressed her gratitude to Kangana Ranaut for giving her this opportunity to work so hard for her debut film.

This is a very special film for me. I was crying while watching the trailer. This is my debut film, and getting to work with Nawaz Sir and Kangana Ma’am is a very special experience for me. When I learned about this project, and when Ma’am chose me as her Tiku, it meant a lot to me. I just wanted to show that I could and would do justice to this character since Tiku holds a very special place in her heart.”
